A white kitchen brings freshness and clarity into your home, harmonises with practically all styles - from country house style (rustic & cosy) to Scandi chic (minimalist & bright) - and can be combined in a variety of ways. We show you how versatile a white kitchen can be.

White kitchens - the eternal trendsetters

Are white kitchens still modern? This question is asked by many people who are toying with the idea of buying a classic - and the answer is clear. White kitchens shine beyond trends. The neutral colour is suitable for a wide range of kitchen fronts - from ornate country house furniture to purist high-gloss surfaces. It can also be combined in a variety of ways: White goes well with elements made of wood, stainless steel and natural stone such as slate and granite, and can be used with numerous wall colours and floor coverings.

The advantages and disadvantages of white kitchens

White kitchens makerooms appear larger and brighterSoiling, water stains and fingerprints catch the eye more quickly. This is especially true for high-gloss fronts.
Free-standing "white goods" such as fridges and dishwashers can be skilfully integratedWhite can quickly appear sterile. You can counteract this with carefully selected accessories, worktops and splashbacks.
Various combination options - from colourful accessories and worktops to elegant marble detailsDepending on the material and surface treatment, strong sunlight can lead to discolouration

Tip: Use specially treated, UV-resistant surfaces to avoid discolouration. Prevent water stains by polishing the surfaces with a soft, dry cloth after cleaning.

    Find your kitchen style

Whether you appreciate rustic cosiness or feel particularly comfortable in minimalist kitchens: The colour white is included - and it is versatile:

    • A matt, off-white colour is a stylish choice for a rustic country house kitchen with the typical panelled doors and carved elements. Used looks, typical of shabby chic, are also popular.

    • Modern white kitchens with a handleless design and high-gloss fronts create a purist, elegant living ambience.

    • Create the industrial look with white kitchen fronts and striking stainless steel handles.

    • In Scandi-Chic, handles, back panels and/or worktops made of light wood meet delicate colours such as matt cream white.

Wall and floor colours: This goes well with white kitchens

White is a combination-friendly all-rounder: Whether tiles, parquet or concrete flooring, light, dark or colourful walls, there are practically no limits to the companions for white kitchens. Let these ideas inspire you:

      • A white kitchen with a light-coloured worktop, white walls and floors visually enlarges small rooms and brightens up dark areas. Important: If you are furnishing all in white, you should create focal points: Choose accessories, textiles such as pleated blinds or curtains, kitchen rugs and wall decorations in your favourite colour or create a monochrome ensemble with black decorations.

      • Keyword monochrome: The bold ones go for the black and white look, paint the walls in the kitchen black and choose high-gloss fronts in white. This creates a trendy look.

      • A sand-coloured wall and parquet flooring add a warm touch to the overall look. The soft brown tones break up the cool white and also provide an elegant twist.

Tip: If you want to make the overall look warmer, combine a white kitchen with wood, for example in the form of the worktop or the kitchen splashback. The material sets natural accents and harmonises perfectly with white surfaces. Light woods give the room a Scandinavian freshness, dark woods create a cosy effect.

White kitchen: Which worktop fits best?

Natural or glamorous, discreet or with a wow effect - white kitchens harmonise with numerous worktop designs. What effect do you want to achieve?

        • A stainless steel worktop completes the industrial ambience.

        • You can achieve strong contrasts with a black worktop to match the white kitchen. Maximise the monochrome effect with a black back panel and black handles.

        • Natural stone is robust and adds a luxurious touch to any kitchen. Light-coloured granite reflects the light and emphasises the effect of your white kitchen. Use slate to create an urban black and white look, marble adds an elegant focal point.

How to use the lighting skilfully

White reflects the light and you achieve optimum illumination with just a few lamps. Nevertheless, a single light is usually not enough: In kitchens, a multi-level concept of functional and atmospheric lighting solutions is recommended.

        • Ceiling lights illuminate the entire room. Go for warm white light, recognisable by a colour temperature of 2,700 to 3,000 Kelvin.

        • Neutral white light enhances contrasts and promotes concentration with its high blue component - ideal for illuminating the work area. Under-cabinet LED light strips are used here, for example.

        • In the dining area, a pendant light with warm white light creates a cosy atmosphere.
